Shaping up Dubai project

Duplomatic will be present at EXPO 2020 in Dubai, thanks to the important undertaking to supply a roof opening system for the United Arab Emirates pavilion, designed by the architect Santiago Calatrava. This is the most important pavilion and that of the host nation.

The pavilion has an iconic layout representing the Arab World culture, taking the shape of the wing of the Hawk of Quraish, which is also the animal of symbolic importance to the country’s religious traditions. The project includes a roof, composed of 28 wings with masses between 5 and 15 tons, that opens with a synchronized movement in just two minutes. Furthermore, the project also requires 2,000 control points located on the roof itself and throughout the entire pavilion. A dedicated hydraulic power station with a capacity of almost 1 megawatt is required to power the roof’s opening. The project combines expertise in hydraulics, motion control and software. In particular, Duplomatic has also developed an ad hoc programme to manage the 17 electrical panels managing the entire system.

We are particularly proud of this prestigious international opportunity, since it testifies to Duplomatic's course of evolution and current positioning: a synthesis of the company’s experience as a hydraulics company and supplier of turnkey solutions for motion control.
